Camping in the sunshine under the shade of pine trees - a completely different experience!

Summer Camping in Ibiza

An excellent choice for families and singles on a budget or for people who simply like the freedom of camping. This diy holiday example can be completely flexible because you can stay for as long or as little as you like. No ties to particular start days so arrive any day of the week.

Accommodation

There is no accommodation exactly, only a pitch for a tent. If you choose to arrange this holiday you must take your own tent. If you've not camped in the Med. before, you may be pleasantly surprised. It's totally different to camping in the U.K. No soggy, wet fields to walk across for a start. Swim, sunbathe and enjoy.

Camping Es Cana is situated close to the centre of Es Cana, Ibiza and is a first class campsite with swimming pool on site. The camp site also has wonderful Indian style tipis and these are available for holiday rental. Alternatively, you could take your own tent and book a pitch for the length of your stay. There's also a cafeteria/bar and small play area for children. The site nestles under pine trees and is situated on the bus route close to Es Cana resort centre.

Getting There

A good selection of budget and charter airlines fly to Ibiza in summer from the UK. Most services start in May and continue until October. In the winter months, fly to the mainland of Spain and connect with a domestic flight to Ibiza or catch a ferry from Denia, Valencia or Barcelona. Campsites are closed to visitors outside of the summer season and there is less choice of hotel accommodation, but the island is peaceful in winter and the weather generally warmer than in the UK or Northern Europe.

Once in Ibiza, it's a simple task to take a taxi from the airport to Es Cana (also spelt Es Canar), or book a transfer or hire car. The average journey time direct from the airport to the resort is about 40 minutes. Regular buses run from Ibiza airport to Ibiza town all year round. From Ibiza town, it's another bus to Santa Eulalia and then another to Es Canar. However, there is a direct service from the airport to Santa Eulalia in high season. More information about buses on Ibiza is available online from IbizaBus.com.

Pineapple's tip - take a small tent that fits into hand luggage and travel light. Clothes dry very quickly in summer in Ibiza!

Spoilt for choice!

Other campings in the Es Cana area include Camping Cala Nova and La Playa. Camping Cala Nova is very close to the nearby Cala Nova beach. La Playa is by the famous Hippy Market in Es Cana and close to Cala Martina beach. No swimming pool on site at either campsite.

Pineapple's tip - the sea at Cala Nova beach can be quite wild at times. Es Cana and Cala Martina beaches are more sheltered. La Playa is probably best suited to young people as the site shares the same grounds as accommodation allocated to a German 18-30 type tour operator.

All three campsites are within walking distance of Es Cana centre where the transfer coaches stop. Camping Es Cana is also conveniently situated for the local bus that runs between Santa Eulalia and Es Cana. Es Cana beach is about 5 minutes walk from Camping Es Cana and this camping is the only one with swimming pool on site.
